Sustainable Modern Luxe at Waterview
Rather than moving to another apartment, the owners chose to transform their existing home to meet their evolving needs. The goal was to create a living space where the whole family could gather together, yet still have their own spaces. This required a significant redesign to maximise all the areas and ensure. Our approach blended modern luxe materials with a keen focus on sustainability.
Premium materials and dark neutral colours were the foundation of this design, with a particular emphasis on texture and materiality. The foyer features bold veined marble tiles, which extend to the skirting boards and cased openings, adding a touch of elegance and cohesion throughout the space. Custom carpentry was designed to remain low, promoting an open and spacious feel.
To create a more expansive living environment, part of the kitchen and an adjacent bedroom were annexed to the existing living area. This redesign allowed for the installation of a gourmet kitchen with an island and a new dining area, which was previously not feasible. Additional windows were introduced, flooding the living space with natural light and offering unobstructed views over the nearby reservoir and park.
Sustainability was at the heart of the furniture selection and finishes. The dining table, crafted from recycled aluminium cans, stands as a centrepiece of eco-friendly design. Other pieces of furniture were made from natural materials, chosen for their premium quality and durability. Walls throughout the apartment were finished with a lime wash, which minimizes the need for frequent repainting and enhances the home’s longevity.
The yard was transformed into a wet kitchen, an ideal space for heavy-duty cooking, and also features a dedicated laundry area. This reimagining of small spaces ensured maximum functionality and efficient space allocation.
In the primary bedroom, a wall was moved to create additional space, allowing the bed to face the window for a stunning morning view. This restructuring also made room for a small workstation and extra storage. The bathroom was slightly enlarged, making the wet areas more spacious and comfortable.
The shared bedroom for the two boys was expanded to incorporate more wardrobe space and a dedicated desk for homework, providing a practical and organized environment for their needs.
A timeless design approach was embraced throughout the home, with neutral hues setting a calming backdrop. Colour was thoughtfully introduced through carefully selected artwork, adding vibrancy and personal expression without overwhelming the space.
This project showcases a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability, delivering a home that is both exquisite and practical for the family’s present and future needs.
