Space planning is an integral part at the start of the renovation.
It is important to consider all aspects of each space, such as size and shape as well as circulation, furniture placement, lighting design and storage solutions. We recommend to pause and ensure all aspects of the home is considered before commencing the renovation works.
Floorplans and even 3D models can be confusion for homeowners to review. And while floorplans are a good indicator, you would need exact measurements before starting any work. More often than not, clients expect the work to start the moment they get the keys to their new home. But its best to take time to visit the unit multiple times, measure up and see how the light moves through the unit during the day.
Sometimes, we will reconfigure spaces to free up areas for better use. Shifting a wall can help align furniture or built-in cabinets much better. It would be much better to catch these changes before work starts, to avoid costly changes and variations.
Especially in smaller units, space planning seems to be something that is overlooked by the developers. From simple daily tasks like ironing or where to store buckets or luggage, we take time to run through the home and will propose where improvements to the flow can be made. Another key consideration is furniture placement. You might want to have a king size bed, but does the space allow for it, or would it even fit through the door?
Of course, we want your home to look amazing – but more importantly – we want to design homes that are functional and work for you.
