Boasting fantastic Reservoir views, this old HDB Maisonette is getting a heritage overhaul with a black and white colonial vibe that is paired with subtle Peranakan hints. Functional materials set centre stage for easy maintenance and contemporary living.

Annexing the area in front of the front door allowed us to create an entrance foyer with a terrazzo floor tile and breezeblock feature wall. Rattan details on the carpentry further enhance the design inspiration. Passing through an cased opening the home opens up with a dining room, open kitchen with island and large living room. The placement of the stairs in the middle of the home further enhances the enfilade lay-out, creating a sense of openness, yet allowing focussed living spaces.

The wood tile floors run through the entire living space for a cohesive flow between the living spaces and kitchen, while still practical and easy to clean. Bi-fold doors open up the balcony area entirely, taking full advantage of the cross ventilation and wonderful views.

In the master bedroom, a raised platform provides ample storage, while providing the home owners a great view while laying in bed. By separating the walk-in wardrobe, we are creating different zones. Custom cut subway tiles are mixed with large format tiles in the master bathroom, where the hexagon floor tile will take centre stage. The common bathroom plays with different sizes and laying patterns of a tile that comes in two different shades. The colour schemes further underline our Peranakan influence.
