Monochrome Americana @ Yishun
Yishun 4-room BTO apartment
Design areas: Living Room, Dining Area, Kitchen, Study, Master Suite with en-suite and Common Bathroom | Project completed: 2017 | Renovation budget: SGD75,000
With a brief to create a bright and clean-lined home, we kept to a monochrome colour palette of shades of white and black. Detailing and layering is brought in through the dark wood floors in a herringbone pattern, tall skirting boards and architectural details. Pairing down most of the Federal style inspired details gives this home a contemporary feel – while still offering enough depth and texture to create interest.
Light flows through the apartment with the symmetrically placed french doors. Instead of a lattice design, we kept the plains of glass large and painted the frames in white. Pops of colour are brought in through the artwork and the furniture and the only bold colour wall is featured in the master bedroom, while brass and marble are used for the tables and picked up in the kitchen.
For the kitchen cabinets, we used FENIX laminate and applied it to the shaker style doors. Its mat finish is fingerprint resistant, and brings depth and sophistication. Pure white counter tops contrast with the marble slab back splash.
