With a preference of traditional architectural layering, this BTO was made over with a contemporary approach to a conventional design and detailing. The architectural detailing includes 15cm solid wood skirting boards, cornices with an extended ceiling detail (as an updated detail instead of beading) and shaker style doors – all finished in solid plywood with laminate.

The apartment is kept up to date with a soothing colour scheme of soft whites, pale jade greens and touches of blues. Mixed metals add a luxurious touch and add another layer of detailing. The wallpaper accent, tiled TV wall and bevelled edged mirror panels complete the transitional template.

While the floorplan remained largely original, the kitchen was opened up and a separating glass door was installed between the wet kitchen and the open dry kitchen. The study area was kept to a minimum, so the overall living space looks large. The existing DB box cabinet was extended and shoe cabinets were added inside for additional shoe storage. Transitional furniture details complement the overall look and abstract art keep the home up to date.

Wallpaper accent walls were added in the master suite and the kids room for a more graphic look and to keep the home contemporary, while the vinyl flooring flows through the entire home – featuring a herringbone pattern in the living spaces.

The household shelter door was integrated in the overall design. To keep the walking spaces to its maximum, we added wood trim and sealed off the ventilation plate with a more discrete louvre. Adding some arch trim to frame helped to bring the overall look together.
