Japandi Peranakan

Condo apartment in Joo Chiat

Design areas:  Living Room, Kitchen, Master Suite with Walk-in Wardrobe, Master Bathroom and Common Bathroom |  Project target completion: May 2019  |  Renovation budget: $80,000 – $90,000
Designer: Arjan Nijen Twilhaar

Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian Lagom homes, the design is infused with Japanese influences – creating a much on trend Japandi look. To further enhance the herritage look, we will be bringing some subtle Peranakan touches to the design to reflect the owners personality.

Keeping the overall colour palette clean and airy, this small apartment is big on style and subtle detailing. We will be adding blond wood elements as well as terazzo and understated Peranakan tiles. For the furniture we are opting for clean lines with a mid century vibe.

In the bedroom we are keeping it simple so the emphasis will be on curated artworks to create a modern zen space to retreat and recharge. The master bathroom is a melody of white on white with textures and interesting details to add some interest to a monochrome colour theme.

The compact kitchen showcases a natural vibe, yet keeping it airy and white, yet still adhering to Mid Century design philosophies. And lastly, the walk in wardrobe will incorpate shaker style cabinets with blond wood floors and white wood on the cabinets.
