This originally dark yet spacious resale HDB flat was transformed into an airy and bright home, featuring traditional detail with an industrial undertone. The apartment was stripped of all its previous features and the store room in the kitchen was demolished and re-located. As a result, the kitchen is spacious with ample storage and counter space.

Keeping the colour-palette understated and contemporary, the eye is drawn to the architectural detail like the tall skirting boards, herringbone floors and simple cornices. The industrial vibe is imbued through the grid glass and black window frames, while a touch of glamour is added with the wall paneling.

In the kitchen, the laminate shaker kitchen is embellished with some wood detailing to add interest and dept to carpentry. But the stainless steel range and farmhouse sink take center stage. It is always a good idea to have the kitchen separated from the living spaces – but it is nice if there is a connection with the rest of the home. So grid glass doors offer the perfect solution.

The kids bedroom needed space for two beds and an occasional sleep-over place. So this built-in bunk bed with pull out bed is the perfect solution. It offers a lot of additional storage in the steps as well, which is an ideal place for toys and other items to keep a smaller room neat and spacious.

In the master bedroom, the decor is kept simple but elegant. The walk in wardrobe is open to the room, but the grid glass does offer a separation without making the room look small. The study adjacent adds some character with its blue bookshelf and is a nice place to unwind and do some work or reading.

The bathrooms are featuring subway tiles and some patterns to amp up the glamour. All pipes are boxed up for that clean and contemporary look – while still maintaining character.
