While retaining the original marble flooring in this Maisonette unit in Choa Chu Kang, we are trying to create a less formal beachy transitional vibe. Adhering to a cool colour palette of greys, blues and whites – mixed with natural wood tones, this seasoned HDB apartment is getting a contemporary overhaul. Traditional architectural detailing will be paired down to eliminate a fussy and old fashioned aesthetic.

Maintaining the ceiling heights to its maximum, the home will feel airy and bright. The foyer opens up, with its windows into the study area, while the study itself will feature a cool blue built-in shelving unit. In the kitchen, wood tiled floors set the tone for a white shaker door kitchen – paired with jade green chevron tiles. The colours will be understated and light to offset the dark quartz counters.

While the bathrooms will get a more contemporary overhaul, in the master bedroom the design will be kept simple. Keeping the storage out of the way by creating a walk-in wardrobe – creating a cozy haven in the main bedroom.

The balcony houses a lot of utilities, which are cleverly hidden by trellis doors with an attached planter box. By lining the trellis with a mirror, the space will be brighter and appear much larger.
